The MissionO come all ye faithful……… Just wanted to wish a very merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones and as a token of my gratitude for your continued support for both myself and The Mission I have recorded a Christmas song just for you which is available as a free download from www.mediafire.com/download.php?dff5fdpo0wuu8ocor www.soundcloud.com/waynehusseyGiving music as a gift is, in my humble opinion, one of the very best things you can give as it is something, if you like it, that keeps giving and giving. Unlike, say, a book which generally you read once and stick on the shelf, or a DVD which may, if it's good, get viewed maybe 3 or 4 times at most. But if there is a song that you like you will play that many many times over and for years and years. Now, I'm not suggesting for a second that this Christmas present for you that I spent a recent afternoon recording is gonna become one of your all time favourites but I do hope you receive it in the spirit in which it is given and I hope it may raise a smile to your lips along with a glass of red. As it does me. It's just one those all time favourite Christmas songs that make me feel aglow inside. Hope you enjoy it. And remember, if you're stuck for ideas for Christmas presents music is perfect for almost anyone, any age. There is so much great music out there. A couple of suggestions and personal faves for me this year have been Coexist by The XX, Smoke Faires' Blood Speaks, the venerable Neil Young and Psychedelic Pill, and Tempest from the evergreen Bob Dylan. To mention just a few. Anyway, have a great holiday season wherever you may be in the world and hopefully we'll meet up somewhere and sometime in 2013. Already looking forward to it. Saude! Wayne, Dec. 15th 2012

The Mission to release ‘The Brightest Light’ following U.S. tour this SeptemberJust days after wrapping the band’s first North American tour in more than a decade this September, The Mission will release its new studio album The Brightest Light, an 11-song collection that marks the first time original band members Wayne Hussey, Simon Hinkler and Craig Adams have recorded together since the sessions for 1990′s Carved In Sand. The band detailed the new album (see tracklist below) on its website late Sunday night, announcing release dates for North America (Sept. 17), the U.K. (Sept. 20) and France (Sept. 23). Produced by David M. Allen — who has worked with The Cure, Depeche Mode, Wire and The Sisters of Mercy — the new album was recorded earlier this year, and will be released as a standard 11-song version and as a deluxe edition with a bonus CD featuring an undisclosed number of extra tracks and a lyrics booklet. The album also will be released on double vinyl and digitally. The new record will be the first new studio album from the reunited Mission — Hussey, Hinkler and Adams, plus new drummer Mike Kelly — since 2007′s God Is a Bullet. Hussey reunited The Mission in fall 2011 for the first time since the band’s string of album-spanning farewell gigs in London in February and March 2008. Since then, the band has performed through Europe, Mexico and South America. The Mission embarks on its first North American tour in 11 years on Sept. 3. Tracklist: The Mission, The Brightest Light 1. “Black Cat Bone” 2. “Everything But The Squeal” 3. “Sometimes The Brightest Light Comes From The Darkest Place” 4. “Born Under A Good Sign” 5. “The Girl In The Furskin Rug” 6. “When The Trap Clicks Shut Behind Us” 7. “Ain’t No Prayer In The Bible Can Save Me Now” 8. “Just Another Pawn In Your Game” 9. “From The Oyster Comes The Pearl” 10. “Swan Song” 11. “Litany For The Faithful” www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2013/07/15/mission-brightest-light-new-album/

The Songs Of Candlelight & Razorblades Tour 2014We are very pleased to be able to now ‘officially’ announce that Wayne Hussey will indeed be playing a solo European tour in Sept-Oct later this year. UK dates thus far confirmed are listed below. There will be some additional UK shows and once we have that info confirmed we will let you know. The tour will also travel to mainland Europe and we hope to be able to have those dates for you by the end of next week. Please note that some of the venues will be seated and where we have that info we have made a note for you. Some venues will be standing and we’ve made a note of that as well and where there is no indication we presume they’ll be standing also. Any changes and we’ll let you know. We asked Wayne for some words regarding the tour. This is how he replied: “So, I’m having the run of the house for a month or so whilst the World Cup is on and a few friends are flying over from the UK to stay to be nearer the action. Even managed to finagle myself a ticket for the England Vs Uruguay game in Sao Paulo. In return I have promised Cin, the wife, an extension to be built on the back of the house once the World Cup final is done and dusted. The building’s gonna take at least a couple of months so I thought it best to get out of there and let them get on with it. What could I do to occupy my time? I know. Go on tour. Hence, in a fallow year for The Mission (and our alter-ego The Blood Brothers) these solo shows. It’s been a while since I’ve played solo in the UK and mainland Europe and as September/October isn’t yet too cold in northern Europe it seems an ideal time. Anyway, I need to earn some money to pay for the house extension. Two birds an’ all that. I am working towards and hope to have a new solo album ready for release to coincide but I can’t confirm that 100% as I keep getting distracted by Liverpool’s now probable amazing run to the title and of course I will also be distracted by the World Cup throughout June and July. You try and make a record in a World Cup summer! it’s nigh on impossible. Anyway, I daresay I will have some new songs to play along with solo versions of some well known and lesser known Mission songs and the occasional cover version. Sing-a-longs guaranteed as well as a promise not to tell the same stories and jokes every night or to play the same set twice. See you there!” September: Mon 22nd: Wolverhampton Robin 2 www.therobin.co.uk/Weds 24th: Manchester Gorilla (seated) www.alt-tickets.co.uk/alttickets/home_wayne_hussey.htmlThurs 25th: Bristol Bierkeller (seated) www.bristolticketshop.co.uk/eventdetails.aspx?e=5983Sat 27th: Winchester Railway www.railwaylive.co.uk/Mon 29th: Leeds The Holy Trinity (seated) www.alt-tickets.co.uk/alttickets/event_ate_18663a.htmlTues 30th: Sheffield Greystones www.mygreystones.co.uk/October: Thurs 1st: Liverpool 02 Academy 2 (standing) www.o2academyliverpool.co.uk/Fri 3rd: Aldershot West End Centre (seated) www3.hants.gov.uk/westendcentreSun 5th: Nottingham Glee (seated) www.alt-tickets.co.uk/alttickets/event_ate_18660a.htmlMon 6th: Newcastle Cluny (standing) www.thecluny.com/www.thecluny.com/listing/wayne-hussey-missionWeds 8th: London Garage (seated) www.alt-tickets.co.uk/alttickets/event_ate_18661a.htmlThurs 9th: York Fulford Arms www.thefulfordarms.co.uk/www.thefulfordarms.co.uk/tickets/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=57Fri 10th: Buckley the Tivoli www.seetickets.com/event/wayne-hussey-the-tivoli/the-tivoli/786605More shows to be announced. themissionuk.com/wp/2014/04/songs-of-candlelight-razorblades-tour-2014/
