Good news for a "new" Mission CD. I am still looking for the Aural Delight bonus songs. If they would be on the CD it would be perfect!

Recently, Mission frontman Wayne Hussey was transferring some old multitrack tapes onto hard drive and came across a complete recording of a song called 'She's Gone Away' that had been completely forgotten about from the period when the Mission were recording the 'Blue' album. Around the same time Wayne was asked to contribute a track to a benefit album that was being released by the Sophie Lancaster Foundation (http://www.sophielancasterfoundation.com/).
Wayne decided to mix the 'lost' Mission track and give it to the S.L.F. for inclusion on their upcoming CD release. Anyway, the album will be available from May 22nd (http://www.stayindie.com/Hope/). Besides The Mission there are some other very notable contributors from the 'goth' scene. Please buy a copy and support this very worthy cause.
Wayne, " I found this song that I'd completely forgotten about from the 'blue' album sessions and I can't for the life of me remember why it wasn't included on 'blue' as it's better than most of the stuff that did eventually make it onto that album. Listening to it now maybe it was because I felt that the lyrics were unfinished, sounds a little like it to me. But I've kept the original vocal, it has a good quality I think, and in fact all the parts are the original recordings. No new overdubs or anything. It sounds to me that we actually recorded the basic track all together in one room although I can't remember exactly. It was Mark Thwaite guitar, Rik Carter on piano & keys, Mick Brown on drums, Andy Cousin on bass, and myself on guitar and singing. I just mixed it recently and that was it. And as I'd been asked to contribute a track to the Sophie Lancaster benefit CD rather than give them an acoustic re-working of an existing song, which is what I was gonna do, I thought I'd give them 'she's gone away'. I didn't see how else we could ever use it and it's gone to a good home."
In September 2009 a casual conversation led to a bold attempt to bring together some of the biggest names from the goth and dark alternative scenes to raise funds for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation ..
Sophie Lancaster was kicked to death in August 2007 simply because she looked different. Since her tragic death the Foundation has worked hard to bring about change, through workshops in schools and a campaign for an amendment to the UK Hate Crime laws.
“Hope” has been put together with the sole intention of raising the maximum amount of money possible, with 100% of the price paid going directly to the charity. The only condition being that you need to create an account in order to buy it, please sign up for free using the button in the top right corner of this page.
The CD features unreleased material and tracks written especially for the foundation. Every track has been kindly donated free of charge by the artist and it has been released in conjunction with World Goth Day ..

There will be 25th anniversary Mission shows... WOW! OK, so me and my big mouth let it out of the bag that we are thinking of playing some 25th Anniversary shows next year - September time possibly. But before we reach a final decision we, here at MWIS, thought we should poll some opinion from you. Firstly, we are looking at playing 2 UK shows - one in London and one in Leeds along with some select cities in continental Europe. The shows will be all about nostalgia - nothing more, nothing less. No new songs, just songs that you, hopefully, have known and loved for many years. Secondly, whilst we can't confirm the full line-up at this point I can tell you that I would be appearing alongside Simon Hinkler on guitar, Craig Adams on bass, and Mark Gemini Thwaite would be our special guest for some of the songs. I have seen and spoken with Mick Brown and, unfortunately, I have to tell you that Mick won't be performing with us. Shame, I know, but there it is. At present if this goes ahead we do have a vacant drummers seat that we will need to fill. Anyway, my question to you is how would you feel about us playing these shows without Mick? I have read some of the comments previously posted on this forum and generally it's what I expected. But I did want to clarify for you where exactly we're at and I'd like your input. Let us know, eh? Cheers, Wayne themissionuk.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5543&whichpage=1

Good news from Wayne - We are very pleased and excited to be able to tell you that Wayne Hussey, Craig Adams, & Simon Hinkler are currently in the studio deep in the heart of Sussex at the moment with drummer Budgie (formerly of Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Creatures, and The Slits) recording an album of new songs to be released in time for The Missionfs 25th anniversary shows in October. We know this is news to most of you but we have been trying very hard to keep it under wraps until everything was ready but it seems that the news has been leaked so we thought we would let you know before you heard it elsewhere. The last Mission album that Craig was involved in was eAuraf ten years ago whilst Simonfs last involvement with the band was his guest appearances at the Shepherds Bush shows just three years ago although the last album Simon actually played on was eCarved In Sandf, not withstanding his mighty fine guitar solo on eGrotesquef from the bandfs last album eGod Is A Bulletf. Wayne has actually been in a band with Budgie before, albeit for just two days along with Ian Broudie from The Lightning Seeds, many years ago when they both lived in Liverpool in the late 70Œs and before they both went on to achieve a degree of success with other bands and, in Waynefs case, notoriety. The album will be released by the bandfs old label, Universal, and is being produced by Tim Palmer who previously produced eGodfs Own Medicinef and the aforementioned eCarved In Sandf. In the interim Tim has worked with bands as diverse as U2, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, and HIM amongst many many others. All the new songs were written jointly by the band with Wayne providing the lyrics as usual. The album is entitled e Jokermanf and the provisional track listing is as follows: 1. Youfre Just Another Pawn In My Game 2. Donft Be Fooled Yet Again 3. Laugh Until I Cry 4. Idiot Savant 5. Cross My Palm With Silver 6. April Rain 7. Have You Got It yet? 8. Pull The Wool Over Your Eyes 9. Retirement Fund 10. The Jokefs On You 11. Man Of Few Words 12. (If You Understand) Keep It To Yourself We hope to have some audio samples for you to hear very shortly. Ifm sure you will agree this is very exciting news and we will keep you up to date with how itfs going in the studio for the boys. More news shortly. Keep the faith.
